Biscuit Joiner of Choice

Okay, so I want to get into woodworking cause I love the look of wood furniture also I am hoping to make some cash doing a hobby I love.
So one of the tools I need to purchase is a Biscuit Joiner (this puts joins two pieces of wood together via a biscuit)

The best Joiner I found is a porter-cable (model557) and its cheapest at Home Depot ($197)
The middle of the road to low end of the totem pole is either the Dewalt ($169) or the Ryobi ($100). Tough call, but maybe I try out the woodworking with a $100 Ryobi and if I like it then move up to the Top of the line Porter-Cable.

I also found today a Dovetail Kit (requires you own a router of course.. which I don't yet) at sears for around 159.00 for two templates and the router bit.

So you need the biscuit joiner to fasten corners OR a dovetail kit plus router and finally a table saw.
